The Case of A Mysterious Disappearance

If you are receiving this message, that means you have been named in the will of those dear and near who needs to be intimated about my recent bereavement.Atleast it feels like death..

I am bitterly hurt to inform you about the mysterious disappearance of my companion of 2 very long years - my mobile, the virtues of whom I'd waxed eloquent about in just my last post.. After the physical and technological abuse it has been through at my hands,I have always known this day has been long in the coming, but that does not reduce the blow that has been dealt on me.

Even as I continue to grieve, I know I have to move on. As a part of that, I have already arranged for a new companion to join me. I have not yet got over the fact that my SIM card chose to elope with my mobile phone. So I have decided to expel both and all their sweet memories from my life- however involuntarily...
Even as I mourn inconsolably, I realise that the practical chores of living have to continue...And all I need to do is look around my once massive, now completely devastated home lovingly called 'My Addressbook' to know that rebuilding my life after this unexpected desertion will not be easy..

That they went away heartlessly, with an 'out of sight, out of mind' swagger, completely switching themselves off and rendering them totally untraceable just adds insult to injury. In my defense, I did go around like the hapless companion that I was, in my demented state of mind, from shop to shop, restaurant to restaurant, every where that I had even thought of stepping in in Brighton, seeking to know if anyone had any information. But they seem to have had the conspiracy much earlier...And it was a near flawless execution to give the devils their due..

My sighs and sobs continue unceasingly. All I hope and pray is that this fate not befall any of you....

In mourning,

Journomuse

  4. Hmmm..I did disrupt the mourning for a couple of smileys and a happy yippie yay...unfortunately, with you guys, i mustn't make myself out to be a tragedy queen like I am prone to. Well, the truth is I'm not entirely without blame too..I was planning to two-time my companion with a sleek and nubile blackberry ( mama's hepppy burddday gift) well suffice to say went to brighton with my old sony ericsson, returned with only a BB...kabhie khushi kabhie gham...no chance at two-timing..have to be monogamous and faithful to this new companion!!!!

  6. You were planning to cheat on your mobile? No wonder it left you...reminded me of my old mobile which I dumped (with mutual consent of course), should say we had a colourful life then, mostly Black and white though.

    Happy life with new blackberry...

  7. Hehehe, thanks guys, you brought some cheer into the gloom..

Pramathesh, thanks for helping me prove the adage '...Cry and you cry alone" wrong..I could hear the empathy in the sobs..:)

Analyst: As always, I'm glad I helped spark off the dying embers of some vintage memories of a romance well lived..(complicated bullshit..that's what this comment of mine was..);)

  8. Complicated BS huh?(help me find a euphemism for this expletive will you? )
The thing with complicated BS ( and graceful brickbats if I may add) is that you should be able to pull it off...which you do pretty well indeed. Needless to say you are an artist with words. Do keep blogging...

  12. Oh dear, sorry to hear that. Didn't you lose a camera some weeks ago as well? A word of advice, lock your passport, jewellery and other precious items in a safe now - and whatever you do, KEEP HOLD OF THAT KEY!

    Good luck with the Blackberry

  13. Hmmm...Paul, you are kind of getting the hang of how my life always runs itself! On its own speed and I'm like one of the character actors in the plot! Not even the heroine of my own life...I shall seriously consider the key idea, but was thinking I should give it to someone else for safekeeping.

Analyst: I have kind of figured out this gizmo and I realised if i let it ping for every mail I get, I'd be a raving loony in 12 hours flat..I live on the net! So only calls and texts get pinged..the rest just gets accumulated for my leisure viewing..:)

Magiceye: My 'jilted' mobile tried throwing a lemon at me, I caught it and made lemonade..So even while I mourn, I'm sipping lemonade..;)

  14. I recently lost the cover of my Motorazar and the damn thing looks so desolate and distraught without it that I can't bear the very sight! My loss is of course dwarfed by the magnitude of your misfortune. My mobile's heart goes out to you.

  18. Oh my God, U have almost given it (him/ her??) a human like appearance. Little did I know that object, I mean 'non-living' things could be so 'living'. Maybe you should write an eulogy for it !!

P.S make sure u dont mourn in front of ur blackberry, then he will elope too :P

  20. I am so so sorry for your great loss.. hope you catch up with your gadget companion in heaven...

  21. The gadget goes to hell, if our lives here decide which passport we get: heaven or hell...hehehe, I think I'll be going in through hell's doors...Maybe I could bribe hell's manager to track down my eloped companion and 'silence' it forever!!!

  22. Excellent Post! Though err apologies you lost your phone! Amazing isn't it how important these cellphones are in our lives? Feels so empty without them. Feel lost when you forget the phone at your home and then spend the entire day thinking about the calls u missed, the messages pending to be read etc etc. Ah no wonder then you arranged for a new companion to join you!!

  23. Nishant: Thank you, welcome to my blog..I used to be one of those harassed reporters who walked into the loo with the phone or left it just outside the shower so that I wouldn't miss calls...Since arriving in the UK, the phone had become a rarely used, leave it just about anywhere to its own devices thing...But now, my new companion is a demanding partner..keeps purring and buzzing time and again to ensure that I don't get too complacent about this relationship..;) maybe that's just what the doctor ordered...
